The Last Voyage of the Demeter

Horror...I'm not the fondest of fans of this genre but I have often come back here and there to dabble in the scary movie universe where death is a constant. Every so often a movie such as this grabs my attention and pulls me in and this is the film that will accomplish that task.

Dracula. Everyone knows the name, everyone fears the name in fictional universes that he presides, and they should fear it. What happens when you're stuck on a ship in the middle of the ocean with something as scary as Dracula? That's what this film is about, the story of the Demeter and how it came to England, practically destroyed and harboring no crew. Now we get the bigger picture, the murdering appetite of Dracula coming onboard this ship via cargo, and then one by one taking victim after victim until no one left is breathing. We all know the ending, we just need to connect the dots of how he got on the ship, why, and what happened on that last voyage that claimed so many innocent lives.

There is no Monster Squad here to save these people, just a ship full of people trying to survive the atrocities that they begin to see left and right. A ship full of frightened people destined to die at the hands at the god of Vampires, Dracula. Honestly, as soon as I knew Dracula was on board I'd take a raft and get off the ship and take my chances, but that's just me.

Until a day ago I didn't even know this movie existed, but came across the trailer and saw that Liam Cunningham (Game of Thrones) was starring in the film and immediately was interested. Cunningham is one hell of an actor so the least I can do is give the trailer a shot, which was the reason I can't wait for this film which comes out August 11th, 2023.

This is the type of movie you watch either in a very dark room or by yourself in the middle of the night. I'm all in for this Vampire flick, because to be honest there really isn't that many good Vampire films nowadays.

What the hell would you do if you were trapped on a ship with something as demonic as Dracula? As soon as you saw someone was bit what would be your course of action? There is a Netflix version of this , its a three part series, basically a three part movie trilogy, with the second film about being stuck on the Demeter, its pretty good actually. Dracula, Rules of the Beast, Blood Vessel, and The Dark Compass are the names of the three 90 minute films. I think it's worth a watch, I enjoyed it, but be warned, the first two are better than the last.

So there you have it, are you interested in this film? Let me know what you think of the trailer and what you would do if you were stuck on a ship in the middle of the ocean with a blood sucking Vampire!
