Predator: Hunting Grounds

This is a video game I was reluctant to buy, but when strolling through the store one day, skipping along like Red Riding hood, I saw it. It was dark inside the store, but this game illuminated, shining like it was the sun, brightening every isle in every direction. It was like it was meant to be, as if Zues needed me to have this game, so, I did what any man with a destiny had to do, I bought it. Like Perseus before me, I chose the hard path and bought this game knowing full well, it could be a terrible mistake, but it was one that I had to take. Destiny called and I answered.
Yeah, that was bullshit, it was ten bucks so I had to grab it.

So Predator, the hunting grounds, was it good? Was it bad? Did I receive any wounds playing this game? I had no desire to play this game, nor did I read any negative or positive reviews before hand, so I basically went into this experience with zero expectations on either side of things, which doesn't always happen.
If you love the Predator movies, you'll enjoy this game, if you're a casual gamer, you probably wont enjoy this one.
So what's to like?
Well, being one of the soldiers is pretty stressful, unless you have teammates that knows what they're doing and has a higher level than you, then it makes the surviving a little bit easier. But hearing that god damn Predator sound freaks me out, especially when my dumb ass teammates leave me behind.

While you try to take out enemy soldiers and sometimes players, the Predator is out there, lurking in the shadows, waiting for you in the trees, hoping you end up by yourself so he can quickly swoop down and make you die in the most painful way possible. You don't know what it's like seeing all your teammates down, brothers, dying around you, and one by one you watch as the Predator viciously procures their skulls by ripping it from their bodies knowing full well it's almost your turn.

Those moments are pretty fun, even on the losing end. The best is when you attempt to leave which ever map your on, because you escaped to the landing zone, and not only is the enemy soldiers crashing upon you, but you have the God damn Predator in the area, killing the enemy, taking your friends lives, and all you can say to yourself as you fire endless rounds in all directions is, "I need to survive, for my friends," before grabbing the rope and getting into the helicopter. That end battle is usually intense and the music doesn't help matters. Explosions and firing in all directions are almost a given at that point during the game.

But sometimes the Predator gets to aggressive and your team manages to thwart his attacks and kill him before the end escape even happens. Imagine your team being ambushed, people are being killed, the Predator murders someone directly in front of you, and you open up on him with your machine gun, sending his green blood splashing on the jungle floor like a waterfall. Now imagine that damn Predator making a break for it to heal himself before making another deadly attack, only to find that the motherfucking guy that shot at him actually followed the scary ass alien, and shot him multiple times in the head with a shot gun like it was some type of mafia hit! It happens. I've seen it in person, I was there.

You also have different modes where its 4 v 4, with each team having it's own Predator, which is actually fast paced and fun as hell.
There isnt a ton of maps though and it can get repetitive quickly especially for those who dont give a shit about the Predator or if they could care less about the movies and lore.
Theres lots of upgrades and some DLCs for the game. I think there is twenty or so different Predators in the game, including the original from the first movie. It also has Dutch in the game and it tells you what hes been doing since his first encounter with the Predator in the 1980s.

Bottom line, it's not a perfect game, but it's a game fans could love. This gets 3.4 out of 5 Ponchos from me...get it...Poncho, you know, the dude from the first mov...you know what, never mind, it's a decent game that's going strong after a year, it's a game that will have you saying, "There's something out there waiting for us, and it ain't no man. We're all gonna die", over and over to your squad and you know what? I'm good with that.

So have you played it, what did you think? Was it worth it? Let us know down in the comments below or send me a letter via mail carriage.
